More big box retailers hope to set up shop in Brooklyn

Many Brooklyn residents may no longer have to leave the borough to shop at big box retailers.

Residents say they travel to other boroughs for one-stop shopping at stores such as Wal-Mart, which hopes to soon open a store in Brooklyn. Ikea recently began construction on what it says will be its largest store in the country. Residents say they like shopping in the superstores because there is a variety of products for low prices, which they say mom and pop stores don?t offer.

Retailers say the influx of mega-stores will also create more jobs and more services. Currently, Home Depot and Target have stores located throughout Brooklyn.
