Advocates trying to help East New York oasis continue to grow

Advocates are trying to save Isaac Jones? East New York garden from being plowed through. The city recently sold the land to a developer who plans to build houses.

Brooklyn residents call the 25-year-old garden?s caretaker Papa Jones. Residents say the garden provides more than a few nurtured plants, it also provides a place for the community to grow and come together. Papa Jones says he uses the food he grows for neighborhood block parties.

Papa Jones says he tried to buy the land himself, but the city would not sell it to him.

The city says it is looking to relocate or preserve Papa Jones? oasis and his asking the developer not to do anything with the land until a final decision is made.
