Brooklyn drivers don?t have to search for change for meters

Brooklyn and other parts of the city will be testing out a new parking program using prepaid cards instead of quarters.

Starting Monday, Brooklyn drivers will have the option of paying some muni meters and single-spaced meters with a card, similar to the MetroCard used at subway terminals. The parking cards will be sold in increments of $20 and $50 and the value will be deducted in 25-cent values. The cards can be used at muni meters bearing a yellow sticker.

The prepaid cards will be available for purchase at two official locations in Manhattan or at New York City Parking Cards Online.
