Revitalization of Coney Island to include new shopping mall

Mayor Bloomberg is continuing his plan to revitalize the Coney Island area.

A major real estate deal involving the company that built the Mall of America is reportedly in the works, according to the Daily News. The Las Vegas-based developer Triple Five Group is close to completing a land deal in Coney Island. The plan would include offices, residential housing and a shopping mall.

There is no word on where the complex would be located, but several large properties are for sale on Coney Island. If completed, the plan would bring Bloomberg closer to his goal of remaking the area into more of a tourist destination.
