10-year-old boy from Brooklyn accused of shooting playmate in face

A 10-year-old Brooklyn boy has been charged with first-degree assault for allegedly shooting a playmate in the head Saturday.

New York City police say the 11-year-old girl was shot in a fourth-floor apartment on Pacific Street in Brownsville. Residents of the apartment building say they heard a single gun shot. Police say they are investigating whether the shooting was intentional. Officials say the girl was being watched by the boy?s mother at the time of the shooting.

Authorities are now trying to determine who owned the gun and say the investigation is ongoing. The victim remains in critical condition at Brookdale Medical Center.
