Halfway house has some in Gravesend worried

Plans to open a halfway house and a group home for mentally ill patients have residents gathering together in protest.

Residents in a town hall meeting said they oppose the proposed facilities because they are too close to several schools. However, they admit they are unable to take legal action because the proposed buildings are within the zoning boundaries on a commercial street.

The meeting took place Thursday night.
