Brooklyn man sentenced to 12 years in prison for fatal drunk driving crash

A Brooklyn man was sentenced to 12 years in prison Thursday for a drunk driving incident that killed a 25-year-old man.

The incident occurred on Christmas Day in 2003 at the intersection of Atlantic and Nostrand Avenues. Police say Fritz Elysees, 33, ran a red light and collided with a truck. The truck spun into a support column and the driver, Seon Andrews, was killed. Elysees was charged with manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and felony assault.

During his sentencing, Elysees apologized to Andrews? mother for his actions. Elysees has a prior record of criminal mischief and numerous traffic violations.
