Shore Parkway bike path will cost taxpayers $11 million

A two-mile stretch spanning the Shore Parkway bike path is about to become two of the most expensive miles in the state after an $11 million renovation.

The path?s emergency repairs will run from 69th Street to the Verrazano Bridge. Officials say the area is badly damaged by sinkholes and the sea wall is collapsing into the ocean. City officials say these conditions are putting thousands of people who utilize this path in danger.

The path is scheduled to be completely closed off for a period of time but sections will reopen as they are repaired.
