Some Brooklyn residents want Sunday parking meters to expire

Many consider Sunday to be a day of rest, but Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY) does not want it to include a rest from feeding parking meters. Some Brooklyn residents however, support a bill opposing the mayor?s stance.

Bloomberg says free parking would lead to increased traffic jams. Brooklyn residents dispute this claim saying the mayor?s offer to extend maximum meter times still inhibit people?s plans.

The bill to end Sunday parking meters goes before the Finance Committee on Wednesday. If passed, the mayor would then need to approve it.
