More money being spent on each student in Brooklyn and city schools
Brooklyn students may feel like the city is not spending enough on them. However, a new study shows more money is being spent on each student in Brooklyn and city schools.
An Independent Budget Office study shows approximately $15,000 is spent per student. According to the study, the national average for student spending is $8,000. Representatives for the office say the increase is due to the $14.1 billion education budget in the city and low enrollment.
Despite the increase, some groups still say the city is not spending enough on students. Some Brooklyn students rallied last month. Their number one complaint was overcrowded classrooms.
