Some Sunset Park residents suffer through hot night without power

Some Sunset Park residents suffered through Tuesday night?s heat without power.

The heat set records for energy consumption by Brooklyn residents. Some Sunset Park residents say their power went out around 9 p.m. Con Edison officials say eight buildings lost all power and some buildings had partial electricity.

Officials say the hot weather caused secondary underground power cables to overheat and two manhole explosions. Many residents say their night was unbearable. Con Edison officials say most of the power in that area has been restored.
