The early bird catches a fish but not a sale at Macy?s Fishing Contest in Prospect Park

Participants put down their shopping bags and baited their fishing lines for the 57th annual Macy?s Fishing Contest Sunday.

Participants casting their rods in Prospect Park?s Lullwater Lake were competing to catch the most fish and the longest fish. Besides winning prizes, young Brooklyn fishermen also had a chance to learn more about fishing and the aquatic environment from the urban park rangers at the event.

Contestants were able to take home their prizes but not their fish. The contest is a catch and release competition, so therefore after the fish were caught, they were released back into their natural habitat.
