Erasmus H.S. student stabbed in head with scissors
A Brooklyn teenager was stabbed in the head earlier today by another student at the High School for Service and Learning, located at Erasmus High School, according to police.
Police say the attack happened at around 12:30 p.m. during a basketball game in the third-floor gym.
Witnesses say a 16-year-old student started the incident. After an altercation with a 15-year-old student, the alleged suspect left the gym, returned with the scissors and stabbed the younger student multiple times in the head.
School officials say they are not sure how the scissors made it through the metal detectors students must walk through every time they enter the building.
Department of Education officials say the victim is being operated on at Kings County Hospital.
Police have arrested the suspect, who is accused of assault with a weapon.
