City chefs compete for title of master latke maker

Some of the city's top potato pancake providers turned Brooklyn into a fried potato heaven this weekend as they vied for the title of master latke maker.
Just in time for Hanukkah, the 17 chefs took part in the Third Annual Latke Festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. They served up latkes of every kind, from traditional sour cream and apple sauce toppings to fig gorgonzola and toasted pine nut.
This year's winner was Manhattan's Almond Restaurant, which stole the show with its bluefish and goat yogurt latke.
