Gov. Cuomo signs bill creating youth employment program
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) signed a legislation today creating the New York Youth Works employment program, which will help young adults looking for jobs.
The program created to help combat the high unemployment rates in the city will provide $25 million in tax credits for businesses that hire unemployed and disadvantaged youth within the first six months of 2012. Another $62 million in state funds will be available to support job training and programs for inner-city youth.
Unemployed, low-income youths between the ages of 16 and 24 will be eligible to get help from the support program.
