BK residents protest budget cuts in Albany
Dozens of Brooklyn residents boarded a bus to the state's capital today with a large coalition to protest proposed budget cuts.
Nearly 1,000 New York residents were in Albany to voice their concerns with the income tax surcharge for those making more than $200,000. The surcharge is set to expire under Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D-N.Y.) budget. Those rallying said the money from an extension of the surcharge could be used to restore funding cuts to education and health care.
Cuomo's nearly $133 billion budget has about 2.7 percent in spending cuts. The budget is due April 1.
