FDNY: 3 killed, 7 injured in Bushwick fire

Officials are investigating after a fire swept through the top floors of a four-story building in Bushwick, killing at least three people and injuring seven others.

The fire was reported just after 5:30 p.m. Monday at 1150 Putnam Ave. About 60 firefighters battled the blaze, which was brought under control about an hour later.

According to fire officials, the deceased include a 5-year-old child, who died on the way to the hospital, and two adults who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that of the seven people injured, two were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Two firefighters also suffered burns and bruises in the flames.

Officials are calling the cause of the fire suspicious and believe it started in the stairwell.
