P.S. 29 students start reciting pledge for first time in years

Students at P.S. 29 placed their hands over their hearts and recited the Pledge of Allegiance this morning for the first time in more than 10 years.

The school?s principal said she didn't know that her school wasn't complying with state law by skipping the daily morning ritual until the family of a student pointed it out.

While the pledge will be recited each morning over the loud speaker, students will not be required to participate if they don't want to.
