Friends and family mourned the loss of a police officer that died in the line of duty in Brooklyn.

Officer Alain Schaberger was attempting to take 42-year-old George Villanueva, who has a history of domestic violence arrests, into custody when he began to resist. The officer was killed after police say he was shoved over a railing by Villanueva and fell 9 feet down a cement stairwell, landed on his head and broke his neck.
