Groups angered after Altantic Yards considers prefab building
Developer Bruce Ratner says he may build the world's tallest prefabricated building at Atlantic Yards but many are opposed to the plan.
According to a report in The New York Times, the project would save the company money on the $4.9 billion project. It would be constructed by building 900 modules and stacking them together to create 400 affordable housing units.
However, local groups say a prefab building would greatly reduce construction jobs in the area. The company says it is looking at all options and could go with brick-and-mortar construction also.
