Man charged with arson in BK building fire

Police say they've arrested a Brooklyn man who is accused of setting a fire in Sunset Park that injured 31 people.

Investigators say Chui Tsang, 56, lives just blocks away from where the fire was sparked on 5th Avenue early Sunday morning.

Fire marshals say they arrested Tsang after he made several incriminating statements when he was questioned, and after he was seen on surveillance footage of the fire.

Investigators say the fire was set in the entranceway on the first floor. It quickly spread to the floors above, where residents were sleeping.

Twenty-three residents and eight firefighters were injured, police say. The building has been completely evacuated and the Red Cross says it is providing assistance to several displaced families.

Police say Tsang's motive is unclear and the investigation is ongoing. He has been charged with arson, criminal mischief and assault.
