Job seekers flock to Coney Island for career fair

With spring just around the corner, Luna Park is holding a recruiting event today on Coney Island in preparation for opening day April 16.

Luna Park is offering both full- and part-time jobs that pay anywhere from $8 to $15 an hour. The positions include ticket sellers, ride operators and food service workers.

"I came out here to try to get a job so I can do something better with my life," says Cavon Telfair.

This is the second of three recruiting event being held on Coney Island.

"We've had a pretty overwhelming response," says Nathan Bliss, of the Coney Island Development Corp. "The first one we had over 250 attending."

Organizers say they have about 275 seasonal jobs to fill. Another recruiting event will be held Wednesday at MCU Park.
