Virus outbreak confirmed at Sheepshead Bay nursing home

Officials at the Sheepshead Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have confirmed that a stomach virus outbreak occurred at the center and forced those staying at the facility to be temporarily quarantined.

The center, which is both a nursing home and post-surgery rehabilitation center, has about 200 beds. Residents on the affected floors were prevented from having visitors and from leaving the center until the virus passed.

Health officials are investigating the cause of the virus.
