Charity event helps fire victims get back on their feet

A charity event in Brownsville aimed to help fire victims get back on their feet.

Two weeks after a deadly fire on East 29th Street, several residents organized a give-away for victims. Participants at the Brownsville Recreation Center ate comfort food and received donated items this weekend.

Attendees say the event was a blessing for them. Many say they have been living on charity items since their possessions were destroyed in a fire.
