Repairman dies after falling down elevator shaft

Several city agencies say an elevator repairman was killed after plunging six stories down an elevator shaft this morning.

Officials say that the 47-year-old man was working at the Brooklyn Community Correctional Center on Myrtle Avenue at around 9:30 a.m.

Police, the city's Department of Buildings and the Office of Emergency Management were all on the scene to investigate, but say it appears to have been an accident.
