Bed-Stuy robbery suspect shot by police

A Bed-Stuy man accused of trying to rob another man is in the hospital after a police-involved shooting early this morning.

Police shut down several blocks along Malcom X Boulevard after they say they shot a suspect in the leg who may have had a gun.

Investigators say a man told them he was accosted by another man carrying a gun. When an officer approached the 23-year-old suspect and asked him to show his ID, police say the suspect reached for his pocket and was shot once in the leg by an officer.

Police say the suspect has an extensive criminal history, including arrests for drug possession, assault and armed robbery.
