1 killed in Prospects Heights fire

Police say one person was killed in an early morning blaze in Prospect Heights.

Officials say the fire broke out at 767 Washington Ave. on the second floor around 3:30 a.m. The victim, Choy Barrington, was a 21-year-old cosmetolgy school student who was three months pregnant, according to her boyfriend.

Fire officials say they believe the victim fell asleep on her bed while smoking a cigarette. Witnesses say they tried to help the victim but the flames were out of control.

Officials are still investigating the fire.
