Park Slope residents rally against FDNY closures

Dozens of Park Slope residents came together today for a rally against the planned closure of a fire company in their neighborhood.

Under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's budget proposal, eight fire stations are on the chopping block in Brooklyn, including Engine Company 220 on 11th Street in Park Slope.

Residents say the station and its firefighters are part of their community and that seeing it shut down would be devastating. They say their next plan is to assemble thousands of protesters for a rally outside City Hall next Friday.
