President Obama: Current immigration system is broken
President Barack Obama laid out his plan for immigration reform this afternoon at the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, saying the current immigration system is broken.
During his speech, the president talked about strengthening border controls and creating a system to offer citizenship for undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
Obama also urged Republicans to get on board and help fix it.
Back in Brooklyn, the deputy director at Make the Road, Javier Valdes, says the president simply gave a speech today. Valdes says he wants to see action from the president and legislation aimed at fixing the immigration system.
