PATH train service back on track after Sunday crash
(AP) - Transit officials say Monday morning'scommute is nearly back to normal after a crash yesterday shut down service and injured 34 people.
The crash occurred Sunday morning as a PATH train pulled into astation in Hoboken, just west of New York City. Thetrain slammed into the bumpers at the end of the tracks, joltingpassengers from their seats.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer says none of the passengers' injuries isconsidered life-threatening.
Zimmer says one of the three train tracks reopenedSunday night. Additional bus and ferryservice will be provided.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. But policesay it appears a mechanical failure is to blame.
