Trial begins in jail 'fight club' death case
The trial for two Rikers Island guards charged in the beating death of Brooklyn resident Christopher Robinson is set to begin today.
The 18-year-old victim was found beaten in his jail cell in 2008. Court documents allege that 12 inmates were part of a prison fight club called 'The Program.' Prosecutors say Robinson's refusal to participate may have led to his death.
Robinson was in prison for a parole violation.
