Subway robberies on the rise

Subway robberies are on the rise, according to data released by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The MTA says major felonies are up 5 percent, assault is up 21 percent and grand larceny has increased by 6 percent.

Many riders report stolen cell phones, iPods and other gadgets.

Major crimes, such as rape and murder, have decreased this year.
