Wal-Mart: Most BK residents want store in NYC
Retail giant Wal-Mart says 76 percent of Brooklyn residents want the chain to open a store in New York City.
According to a survey conducted by Wal-Mart, New Yorkers spent $165 million last year at Walmart stores located outside the city.
Brooklyn residents spent about $10.4 million, according to the survey. The national retailer is now searching for possible store locations throughout the city.
Wal-Mart has failed twice in the past to open stores in New York City.
City officials say they will be meeting later this month to attempt to block any store openings in East New York or possibly the entire borough.
