Surveillance cameras coming to some city buses
Beginning in the spring, nearly 400 New York City buses will be equipped with surveillance cameras. The city says if the almost-$10 million program is successful, a total of 1,150 buses will have the security cameras by 2014. In Brooklyn, the B46 already has cameras installed from an earlier pilot program. The MTA says it hopes the cameras will help maintain a safe and secure environment on its buses. AP wire services were used in this report.
