Union workers protest lockout following contract fallout

Union workers at Flatbush Gardens protested today after they say the owners locked them out.

The workers say the lockout happened after contract talks fell apart.

In a statement, the owners said Flatbush Garden would use a temporary-workers unit until its Local 32BK employees ratify the final proposal presented to them on Sept. 1.

The battle between workers and management has left more than 10,000 residents in the middle, with residents saying their garbage is already beginning to pile up.
