Students protest possible closure of John Dewey H.S.
Protesting continued today outside one Brooklyn school that could possibly close due to restructuring by the Department of Education.
Students and faculty say they gather outside John Dewey High School once a week before classes start to protest the restructuring that could possibly close the school for good.
The Department of Education cites a low graduation rate of 57 percent as one of the reasons Dewey was chosen as part of the restructuring plan.
Other options for John Dewey High School include a leadership change or phasing out students and bringing in a charter school.
