Bedbugs infest Coney Island woman's home

A Coney Island woman says her battle against bedbugs is making her sick because it's taking too long for exterminators to treat her apartment.

Maria Rivera says she's been to the hospital twice in one week and a New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) exterminator never showed up last Friday.

In a statement, NYCHA says, "Our protocol for treating bedbugs is to inspect an apartment within a few days after we receive a complaint. However, the current outbreak in the city makes it difficult to respond as quickly as possible."
