'Coney 8' businesses plan to file injunction to stay
A coalition of booted Coney Island vendors say they plan to file an injunction to stay on the famed seaside venue.
Eviction letters were sent to 11 vendors in October operating near the new rides installed at Luna Park. The rides were installed last May as part of Coney Island's redevelopment. Only about half of the old concessions will be allowed to stay in the prime section of the boardwalk.
Dubbing themselves the Coney Island 8, several business owners are planning to fight back against the eviction.
Italian company Zamperla granted the businesses an extension to stay until today. The fate of the vendors has been on hold since Zamperla opened Luna Park.
