Kids adopted from Haiti, other countries granted citizenship

Seventeen children orphaned in Haiti and five other countries were granted American citizenship today.

Several Brooklyn parents who adopted the young kids joined together as the citizenships became official. The families include children rescued from Haiti after the earthquake, as well as kids from China, Ethiopia, Guatemala and St. Lucia.

The parents say they are very happy and excited for the children to start a new life. They say although the kids are now Americans, it is also important to remind them of where they came from.
