Missing street sign prevents elderly woman from leaving home

An elderly Brooklyn woman says a missing street sign has prevented her from leaving her home because Access-A-Ride can't locate her address.

Anna DiSalvatore, 76, says that after two hip replacements, a knee replacement and arthritis in her feet, she relies on the service to pick her up in Brighton Beach. She says the sign has been gone since the first week of October.

DiSalvatore says it's difficult to find her inlet because there is a Brighton 3rd Street, 3rd Place, 3rd Court, 3rd Walk and 3rd Road all in close proximity. She says the confusion caused her to miss a doctor's appointment.

New York City Transit says Access-A-Ride is contacting DiSalvatore to ensure she doesn't miss any future appointments. The Department of Transportation also says it is looking into the problem.
