City to end Priority 7 Day Care Vouchers

Brooklyn officials are fighting to save Priority 7 Day Care Vouchers after Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the city is eliminating the program.

Officials say nearly 2,000 Brooklyn families will lose affordable child care when the vouchers expire Dec. 31. Councilman David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn) says 91 percent of those families are below the poverty line.

Greenfield and other councilmembers have written several letters to Bloomberg protesting the decision. He says they will meet with the mayor in two weeks.
