DOB begins campaign to force elevator repairs

The Department of Buildings is beginning a campaign to force building owners to return their elevators to service.

Called the Elevator Enforcement Program, the department is listing the top 10 elevator offenders on its website. Tivoli Towers in Brooklyn made the list at No. 8.

Records show in the past eight years, there have been 98 elevator complaints and 43 violations at Tivoli Towers.

The new management company for the building started last week and says that it plans on buying new elevators within the next eight months.
