LIRR back on track after weekend rail work

? The LIRR is back on track today after another rough ride this weekend.

The LIRR severely curtailed service over the weekend while it upgraded a switching system at its hub in Jamaica, Queens.

The new equipment started working after midnight.

An MTA official tells News 12 that the amount of riders was down over the weekend. Officials say the decrease is because most people knew to stay home or find another way into the city.
