Cops: Thousands of pirated DVDs found in Brooklyn raids

The NYPD says it has seized 10,000 copies of pirated DVDs during a raid of nine Brooklyn stores.

According to the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, the pirated movies were imported from Nigeria. Investigators say they also confiscated duplicating machines.

The Nigerian film industry is urging Brooklyn residents not buy unauthorized DVD recordings. The district attorney's office says the investigation is ongoing and those responsible could face significant jail time if convicted.
