Suspect arraigned in hair salon shootout with cop
(AP) - The New York City man accused of committing arobbery at a hair salon that was foiled by an off-duty policeofficer getting her hair done has been arraigned.
Winston Cox appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court yesterday oncharges including first-degree attempted murder, robbery andcriminal possession of a weapon.
The 20-year-old was ordered held without bail. A grand jury willbegin hearing the case.
Prosecutors say Cox entered the Brooklyn salon Saturday andannounced a holdup.
They say he opened fire after off-duty officer Feris Jones drewher gun and identified herself as a police officer.
Investigators say Jones shot Cox's gun out of his hand, injuringit.
Cox's lawyer and relatives declined to comment.
