LIRR back on track after weekend slowdown

The Long Island Rail Road is back to normal after a severe weekend slowdown caused commuter headaches this weekend.

The LIRR severely curtailed service over the weekend while it upgraded a switching system at its hub in Jamaica, Queens. Only three trains an hour were running between the Jamaica station and Manhattan, and there was no train service between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica.

The LIRR will also limit service on Nov. 6 and Nov. 7, the weekend of the New York City Marathon.
