Fate of Tiana Browne now in hands of jury

Jury deliberations began today in the case of a Brooklyn teen accused of stabbing her cousin to death in Crown Heights two years ago.

The defense has argued that Tiana Browne needs psychiatric treatment for allegedly killing her cousin Shannon Braithwate, not jail time. Browne's lawyer says his client was sexually assaulted multiple times and has suffered trauma because of it.

The prosecution has told jurors that while Browne has had a difficult childhood, it doesn't excuse the crime, in which Braithwate was stabbed 49 times.
