Armed robber breaks into E. New York store

Police say they rescued a female employee from a store Friday after an armed robber broke in and escaped.

When a cleaning woman arrived at 615 Livonia Avenue to begin work at W.J.J. Check Cashing Corporation, she found an armed robber waiting inside. She says the robber had a gun.

The woman could not escape because the front door was locked, forcing police to bust her out. The safe was not open, leading police to believe the robber fled the scene empty-handed.

One person believes the robber may have entered the store through the basement door. One man adds that the robber likely left the store the same way.
