Dead baby found at alleged sex traffickers' home

(AP) - Federal officials say a couple has been charged with sex trafficking of a young woman from Mexico, who was beaten for years and held as prisoner in a Brooklyn home.

Domingo Salazar and his wife, Norma Mendez, appeared in U.S.District Court in Brooklyn on sex trafficking charges and werebeing held without bail Wednesday. Their attorneys had no comment.

They are accused of forcing the woman in her 20s to work as aprostitute for about two years.

Investigators searching the Brooklyn home found a plasticcontainer with concrete that held the remains of a dead infantbelieved to be the woman's child.

A federal affidavit says the child died in January 2008. Thecause of death is pending an autopsy.
