Red Hook residents want action on filthy street
Red Hook residents say a street in their neighborhood has been turned into an illegal dumping ground.
Residents say the eyesore stretch of Halleck Street has for years served as a dumping area for discarded debris, especially troubling because of its proximity to a park and neighborhood pool.
The site is controled by the city's Department of Transportation. Efforts to reach the mayor's office have so far been unsuccessful.
